Welcome to Creative In A Cube!

How does this picture make you feel?

If you’re anything like me, this image conjures up a longing…longing for freedom from the confines of everyday life.

As an artist, this kind of freedom is something you crave. And yet, how do you act as both a responsible adult while also pursuing your dreams?

I created this blog to connect with other creative minds who are currently working a day job while they pursue their artistic dreams.

You’ll find everything from advice on surviving in the cubicle world, to musings on anxiety, giftedness, and sensitivity, to posts that will encourage you to express your most authentic self no matter where you are in your journey.

Staring at Trees: An Existential Musing - Learning about giftedness has helped me see myself more clearly. No label has ever described me better, from infancy to the present day, than Gifted. It captures my rapturous intensity, my vibrant emotions, my endless imagination. It captures my multipotentiality and the anxiety that comes with having to choose what…

How Internal Family Systems Helped Me Heal - A brave friend of mine inspired me recently. By talking about mental health more openly, he’s been trying to remove the stigma surrounding it. His vulnerability made me realize how I could also help people by sharing my own experiences with this subject. My life has not been all sunshine…

The Courage of Authentic Choice - I haven’t been blogging much lately. My last post was in October. That’s over four months ago. One of the things I’ve found difficult about blogging is trying to decide what’s worth writing about. What can I say to the world that’s actually useful and valuable? I feel like I…

Learning to Love Your Squish - I’ve lost a third of my body weight in the last 10 years. Given how many people struggle with being overweight, it’s easy to read that sentence and think, “good for you!” And it is good for me…mostly. I was technically overweight when I first started out, and now I’m…
